Best Intentions

You know when I first started this Blog last November, I had the best intentions to keep up with it, update it regularily and keep my peeps engaged. Do you ever find, that the best intentions only lead to utter dissappointment? All those things you intend to do, to make life better, your business better, the world better, just sit in the corner, laughing at you. I can hear the voices all the time telling me, "You've got to do this. It will make everything BETTER." The truth is, if I focus on the most important (and mundane) aspects of my life and business, I will achieve great results. We have to stop hopping from strategy to strategy, lifted by the excitement of a new approach, and slog through the boring activities that produce results. In my business, by the way it is true in every business, prospecting to find new clients is the mundane part of the day. It is so much more stimulating to problem solve or research new information. But that does not create an income opportunity.
Face it. The boring stuff makes it possible to experience the exciting stuff. This is not just a reality in Real Estate, it is a law of life. For example, high school atheletes have to go to class, study and get good grades in order to compete in their sport. Mother's and Father's must spend sleepless nights caring for young children so they can experience the joy and excitement of parenthood. Teacher's must tediously read and grade homework assignments so they can experience the joy that comes from enriching the student. I think this is even a universal law. Our lives are balanced so that we must live with the mundane so we can experience excitement. We will never succeed in much if we constantly change direction because we become bored. The secret to life I think, is finding joy in the mundane. Make the dull repetitous activities exciting and you will find you enjoy your work and your life more.
The bottom line...anything worth achieving is going to be boring at times. We have to drive through it. Power through the dip (thanks Seth) and get to the other side.
